Volusia League of Cities Associate Members have the opportunity to interact with the membership throughout the Calendar year at our meetings. Associate Membership Application

We work closely with, and are supported by, the Florida League of Cities (FLC) in representing the interests of Volusia County’s municipalities to the Florida Legislature,Governor's office and state agencies.  We also assist the FLC on urban policy and public administration issues on a statewide basis.

Associate Membership FAQs

When are the meetings held?

VLOC meetings are typically held on the fourth Thursday evening of odd months. Occasionally, due to holidays, this meeting date shifts. The yearly meeting schedule will be posted online in January.

Are other sponsorship and recognition opportunities available?

  • VLOC Dinner Meeting Networking Receptions:  The host municipality often seeks sponsors for the one-hour networking reception. Reception sponsors receive special recognition at that meeting.
  • VLOC Annual Awards Banquet:  This is a prestigious event, attended by250-300 VIP’s and honorees from our 16 member municipalities. It is a special night dedicated to honoring the Elected Official of the Year, the Mayor of the Year, Executive of the Year,Employee of the Year, and Citizen of the Year. Media outlets often highlight awardees from this meeting.  Diamond Plus members are included as sponsors of the Annual Awards Banquet, and have an entire table reserved at theBanquet. The Annual Awards Banquet is typically held in May.
  • The “I-4 Corridor Annual Super Regional League Breakfast” at the Florida League of Cities Conference is a separate, exclusive sponsorship.  This breakfast meeting includes municipalities from 7 counties and 64 cities/towns from the Volusia League (16 cities and 1 county), as well as the Tri-County League (22 cities/towns in Orange, Seminole & Osceola County), and the Suncoast League (26 cities/towns in Pinellas, Hillsborough & Pasco County). Affiliate Members are only invited to attend if they sponsor this Super Regional Breakfast Meeting. This Annual Breakfast Meeting is typically held in August.

Where are the meetings held?

Municipalities host the meetings at venues in their city/town on a rotating basis. The meeting schedule, and locations, will be published online in January, and in each meeting invitation.

Who attends the VLOC bi-monthly dinner meetings?

Meeting attendance varies, but is typically between 100-150 attendees. Meeting invitations are emailed to elected officials, as well as the senior administrator(s) for each municipality. Our Affiliate Members are also invited, and may send the number of representatives allocated by their membership level.  

Who leads the Volusia League of Cities?

The VLOC is led by anExecutive Board, who are elected by the membership.
